Deadly High Tide Sunrise (for electronic devices) at Second Beach
This shot was one of the last I took the morning of december 30th before my camera decided to take a dive in salt water. Captured around 7:43am. Is a composite of 2 shots, I used a 10 second shot for the bottom and a 1.3 sec one for the top, both taken at f16.
It was a very fun trip to Second Beach with my brother in law - El Chino - who was visiting the pacific for the 1st time, we hiked through the woods before sunrise and had a blast until the camera died ... as they say better dead in the great outdoors than in the bed (or camera bag in this case) ;-)Second beachLa PushAndres Caldera PhotographySunriseseascapeolympic peninsulalandscape

Walla Walla Hay Fields
I just don't have words for how much I love this shot .... to be really honest I had to combine the right sky with the right ground ... they both belong to the same place (Walla Walla, WA) and were taken just 4 miles from each other (the sky one was taken from the Withman Mission, and the hayfield is by College place & Highway 12, like 4 miles east), and were taken less than 2 hours apart ... the story is that I saw this beautiful cloud formation earlier in the day but didn't stop and when I went back to the hay field to take my shot, the puffy clouds were gone and sky was not like this anymore ... so PS time machine helped bring time back ... Lesson is, when you see what you like, stop the car and take the shot ... Nikkor 10-24 & circular polarizer

Top of Spray Park
This is my wife contemplating an amazing sunset from top of Spray Park at Mount Rainier National Park. This was her first ever overnight hike and was a success, so next summer will do a few of these :-) The other reason this was a success is because I just learned this photo won second place in this year's Washington Trails Association (WTA) 2009 Photo contest, Northwest Exposure 2009 "Hikers in action" category. It was a nice surprise on the mail as they didn't send an e-mail to notify. I got a pretty cool book to enjoy more our hikes, a 6 month suscription to "picknic" and my photo was published in WTA's physical bimonthly magazine. This is my wife contemplating an amazing sunset from top of Spray Park at Mount Rainier National Park. update: WTA has their own flickr stream and they also posted my photo, here www.flickr.com/photos/29468641@N04/4015472309/in/set-7215...

Spray Park Reflection of Mount Rainier
You can't go wrong with Mount Rainier on a clear day and whatever still lake you find, even a tiny one like this.
I know this is a cliché, but got to mark this one off my list! (will still be looking for more handsome lakes)

Beautiful Mystic Lake @ Mt Rainier National Park
This place is amazing, in less than 15 minutes it went from a completelly bright, sharp view of the lake, to a 100% foggy where you couldn't almost see the water ...
This shot is kind of in the middle ... I had to play with masks and red and blue filters in order to get a contrasty look in the sky (top and bottom of the image - red filter) as well as in the middle portion of the image (blue filter)Mystic LakeMt Rainier National ParkAndres CalderaBWlandscape

Windy Gap Lake in B&W
Last weekend I hiked the Northern Loop Trail www.nps.gov/archive/mora/trail/northern.htm with my friend Alexander ... it was a blast, 5 miles bike (with 35 pound BP) to start the journey, then 14.5 miles day 1, camp at Fire Creek, next day we headed to the cross country camping area by Mystic Lake (like 12 miles more to get there) ... following morning an awesome day hike (without backpacks, thanks God) to the top of "Mineral mountain" to find out there was a log from the Mountaineers (nobody had signed it since 2006, so the French and the Venezuelan stamped their names) ... next follow the loop downhill, 8 more miles to the point of origin, jump onto the bikes and ride 5 more miles (but this time downhill), what a great way to end the hike! (not counting the warm Mexican food after 3 days of trail mix, freeze dried food and things like that) ... In t his photo a lake without know official name ... this lake can be found by Windy Gap in the Northern Loop Trail, Mount Rainier, WA

Road trip
It's been a long time since the last time I driven for more than 10 hours ... We added more than 2,000 miles from Sammamish, to Yellowstone, WY and back. This is one snapshot (more like a 3 brackets HDR) somewhere in Montana ...

Reflection Lakes
After like 3 tries (last february, then july) this week I finally got to get a shot Mt Rainier from reflection lakes ... it took like an hour or so of waiting for the right moment with the clouds uncovering the mountain and for the water to be still enough for a decent reflection to show up ... I guess some dramatic sunset color is missing but will try again ... Nikkor 10-24 & Circular Polarizer
